You will document your Honors Contract in the Academics section of your Honors ePortfolio. It is your responsibility to collect the necessary documents, and post them online. Word processed documents must be converted to PDF format prior to posting.

You must post the following documents:

1. The course description from the College Catalog, the name of your supervising professor, and a 250+ word description of your Honors Contract. Write the description for an educated lay audience--people who have college degrees, but who might not be familiar with your field of study. Exactly what are you researching? What is your methodology? What steps are necessary for your project to succeed? Why do you think that this project is a worthwhile one? Be sure to include a PDF of the Honors Contract.

2. A reflective narrative that addresses some or all of the following questions:

  • What did you learn from completing this Honors Contract?
  • How did your research make you a better scholar?
  • What did your research teach you about the ways in which your subject is studied?
  • What did you learn about your own research abilities?
  • How has your approach or feelings towards your subject changed?
  • Would you ever like to conduct another project like this one again?
  • What advice would you give a classmate or a friend who was considering beginning a project like this one?
  • What did you learn about university level research that will help you in the future?

Be sure to include any relevant images. This statement should be at least 500 words. There is no upper word count limit for this type of reflective statement.

3. Your product--what you have produced as Honors work for the supervising professor’s review and evaluation. This might be an essay, a research paper, a journal, a PowerPoint Presentation (be sure to record your narration), a multimedia project, or a combination of some or all of the above. Depending on availability, you should include relevant photographs or illustrations (ensuring that you have copyright permission to do so).

Be aware that after reviewing your ePortfolio entry, your Honors Project Supervisor will be using the comment feature to evaluate the success of your project. If your supervisor’s evaluation is not satisfactory, your contract will be rejected, and it will not count towards graduation with Honors.
