" IMAGINATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN KNOWLEDGE," Albert Einstein.

Hello. I am Luis Arias, A student of Civil Engineering at Eugenio Maria de Hostos community college. This ePortfolio is designed to showcase some of my scholarly work, my interests as a student, and my curriculum development, but it also serves to introduce my worldview as it relates to my education in general.

Please remember that this ePortfolio is a work in progress. Right now, it's the Fall of 2013-2014, and although I've just started working on this, there are still some parts missing. I haven't had the time to digitize my educational experiences that I have done from previous semesters and evaluations. Keep being patient. I'm only able to find a couple hours and work on this.

I believe that the duties and obligations of a student with interests in succeed in life can be noticed when a degree appears in his/her hands. In my opinion, students should strive to get educated, mentor themselves to get knowledge of how their life can change at the moment that they hold a degree which would open the doors to get opportunities in  their daily life. To me, students not only need to study to get a good job, and make a lot of money, instead they should also contribute a very particular type of service that is expressed through the care and support of the mechanisms and systems by which our society flourishes.

In order to live up to my vision as a student, I see my role at this college as being one of continuous support—support of my professors, my department, and my disciplinary interests. Honest integration, application and service is very important—an active goals that contributes to myself as a student and to the successful program of engineering of my college. To me, interest, learning and goals cannot be viewed as separate functions since each element influences and impacts the others in ways that are perhaps impossible to completely delineate.
